As the saying goes, kitchens and bathrooms sell homes – so it’s no coincidence that those two rooms happen to be designer Brandon Snyder’s favorite spaces to decorate. After all, it was through his own real estate dealings that Brandon got hooked on interior design.
“I bought, styled and sold five homes and experienced great success with each resale. Five out of five times, the buyers requested to keep the furnishings used for staging in their purchase agreement, so I must’ve done something right,” Brandon laughs. “Because each home I worked on was a labor of love, I thought that becoming a design consultant would be the best way to intertwine a passion with a profession.”
Since joining the design team at John Boyle Decorating Centers, Brandon has been able to lend that same expertise to helping customers create the homes of their dreams.
“The most rewarding thing about what I do is seeing my clients ecstatic about their new space.”
Which colors do you enjoy working with most? White, because it works with every style and has the power to really open up a space. At the same time, I’d really love to work more with navy as it’s such a classic neutral and I’d love to be able to open up people’s minds about using a dark color.
What do you forecast to be the next big color trend?Woodland shades, especially Benjamin Moore’s Hunter Green.
Favorite place to find inspiration: Nature. I love to incorporate natural materials into my designs as much as possible.
What color was your bedroom when you were 10 years old?Light green; it was a jungle theme.
Pro tip for adding a pop of color to an otherwise neutral space:Lighting fixtures! So simple, but you’d be surprised at how much a colorful light fixture can influence or transform a space.
What color “rule” was made to be broken? The outdated notion that you can’t mix metals. I love to see various metal finishes in one space.
What’s your biggest design pet peeve? That you can’t do something just because of some arbitrary design rule that someone at some point decided to impose (see above!). I say do what you love and what makes you feel good.
